The craft behind the collar
Our Makers
Every Leo & Bamba piece is made by hand in South Africa. These are the people behind the work.

The Bead Collection
Galago
This is the collar that started it all for us.
Galago was founded by Adhiambo Mula-Lauwers — a former model and fashion entrepreneur who saw a gap in the market for accessories that truly honoured African heritage. Working from a sunny studio in Johannesburg, Adhiambo and her team of local women artisans hand-stitch seed bead embroidery onto full-grain leather with solid brass hardware. Bold, contemporary, and rooted in tradition. No two pieces are alike.
We chose to work with Galago because the craftsmanship is extraordinary and the values are uncompromising — fair employment, African heritage, made by hand. Everything Leo & Bamba stands for.

Senya Pet Couture
Born from a rescue dog, built for every dog.
Senya Pet Couture was founded by Phryne Williams in South Africa after she adopted two sighthounds and couldn't find accessories worthy of them. She started making her own — and the collars she brought to the park attracted so much attention that a brand was born.
Every Senya collar and lead is made from hand-selected repurposed climbing and yachting rope: soft, strong, and diverted from landfill. Phryne has since trained women from disadvantaged communities to craft her designs, and a portion of every sale goes to Sighthound Rescue South Africa.
We chose to work with Senya because the ethics are woven in from the start — not added as an afterthought. A beautiful product with a genuinely good story behind it.
